WHALE EXTINCTION

350 Scientists have warned that within our lifetime 50% of the world’s whale species could become extinct. Whaling, climate change, collisions with ship, habitat degradation, pollution — all these, and more, account for serious threats to these species.

The North Atlantic Right Whale is high on the vulnerable list. Followed not far behind by some others.

Check all this out on the internet.

Norway, Iceland and Japan seem to be the only countries, other than local aboriginal populations from some other countries, who permit whaling. Its been rumoured that Iceland exports its surplus whale meat products to Japan where it is used for pet food…

Surely, in this day and age, whaling should not be necessary…
