CHINA SETS ASIDE SPACE FOR WILD PANDAS

China does a good thing in setting aside almost 10,000 Square miles of mostly new protected Panda habitat that links 67 smaller protected areas in mainly Sichuan province connecting those in  Gansu and Shaaxxi provinces.

It protects prime bamboo growing areas, the main food of the panda, and by connecting these protected areas will help enlarge the potential gene pool as the panda habitats will now not be separated but directly connected.

There are less than 1900 pandas in the wild and about 200 in captivity in zoos and various breeding programs.

Good for China on this one!
