Iberian Lynx, on the way back from the brink?

Only a few short years ago the Iberian Lynx was down to about 100 individuals! Now, with a concerted conservation effort, the are over 400 and measures are underway to reintroduce this species of cat to natural surroundings in Spain and Portugal…

Congratulations to those behind this tremendous conservation effort, and to the World Wildlife Fund for its information sharing.

But still it is the most endangered member of the wild cat family…

  1. Almost as the breeding has been successful in the national park Donana but reintroducing elsewhere in Spain And Portugal has been less successful. Donana is under threat for gas extraction now and some Lynx always get hit on the highways never too far away. But yes it is a move in the right direction.
