The Rare ADDAX

addax_11

Critically endangered, the very rare Addax is more common in captivity than in the wild. Populations were once common in the wild in Chad, Mauritania, Niger and other Saharan desert countries, now being re-introduced in Morocco, Tunisia and a couple of North African countries.

This animal lives on sparse vegetation it can find and can go for long periods without food or water. It is alternatively know as `White Antelope`or` Screw Horned Antelope`.

Mankind is the most dangerous species to this animal where uncontrolled hunting has seriously reduced these small population pockets across its range..

Hanover in Germany has one of the largest captive breeding populations. Total world  population estimated at about 300.
