Ontario, Canada’s Environmental Commissioner says in his annual report “This is the biggest threat to the structure and ecological integrity of the ecosystem that I have encountered in my life…bigger than DDT’.
One beekeeper from Hanover, Ontario, Canada said his operation has lost 100 million bees in the last two years.
The report claims that neonicotinoids, or neonics for short, are to blame for the massive kill-off both here and in the rest of the world where this product is used .
Neonics are the subject of a proposed $450 million class action by Ontario Beekeepers against Bayer and Syngenta, producers of this kind of product.
Other huge lawsuits are either pending or are in the courts elsewhere in the world.
Bees are required for the pollination and subsequent production of much of the food we eat!
